Why Didn't the Brookings Institute Reappoint Ravitch?

Diane Ravitch reports that she has been informed she will not be reappointed as a non-resident senior fellow at the Brookings Institution, an institution with which she has been affiliated since 1993.

It might be because Grover (Russ) Whitehurst, Brookings Senior Fellow and Director of the Brown Center on Education Policy, is a Romney advisor on education policy.

Or it might be that Brookings doesn't want to upset the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.
