Philadelphia's Most Valuable Students

Ohanian Comment: I applaud recognizing student achievement, but to call some students "most valuable" is strange. Strange and ugly.

Forty-three outstanding high school seniors were honored last night at the first-ever presentation of the Most Valuable Student Award, at the Independence Seaport Museum at Penn's Landing.

One student from each of the school district's high schools was selected by school leaders based on criteria that included academic achievement or improvement, achievement in the arts or athletics, and/or community service.
