He belongs to a company who flies to different companies to fire large numbers of people so that the adminstrators do not have to do the dirty deed. The big issue now is abolishing teacher tenure.

ABOUT THE ORGANIZATION: Our client is a national, not-for-profit organization founded by teachers that helps school districts and states fulfill the promise of public education by ensuring that all students—especially those from high-need communities— get excellent teachers. The organization recognizes that although teachers matter more than any other school factor in student success, the nation's education systems are not aligned with the goal of an effective teacher in every classroom. In response, our client develops customized programs and policy interventions that enable education leaders to diagnose their teacher quality challenges and find, develop and keep great teachers.

Since its inception in 1997, the organization has recruited or trained approximately 33,000 teachers—mainly through its highly selective Teaching Fellows™ programs—benefiting an estimated 4.8 million students. It has also released a series of acclaimed studies of the policies and practices that affect the quality of the nation’s teacher workforce, most recently including The Widget Effect: Our National Failure to Acknowledge and Act on Differences in Teacher Effectiveness (2009). Today, our client is active in more than 25 cities, including Baltimore, Chicago, Denver, New Orleans, New York and Oakland.

ABOUT THE POSITION:
Our client is currently seeking two full-time Talent Management Coaches to implement a talent management system focused on teacher effectiveness. These positions report to the Partner and will work from a home office anywhere in the New York or New Orleans area. The Talent Management Coaches will be required to travel 4-5 days a week to New York City or New Orleans schools. These positions are available immediately.

Role and Responsibilities:
These positions offer the successful candidate the opportunity to assume a role in supporting school leaders in evaluating and developing effective teachers in New York City public schools. Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Communicating of Teacher Effectiveness Project to Teachers

  • Create materials, agendas and talking points to help principals have conversations with probationary and tenure-eligible teachers

  • Determining Individual Teacher Development Needs

  • Provide written guidance to principals on using data to assess teacher effectiveness

  • Create tools to help principals diagnose teacher needs and choose appropriate interventions, particularly for probationary and tenure-eligible teachers

  • Providing Developmental Support and Track Progress

  • Track teacher development needs and the delivery of interventions to establish school and project level patterns

  • Completing Teacher Evaluations

  • Work with principals to improve use of existing evaluation tool, provide logistical support to ensure principals follow the evaluation process

  • Track the alignment of evaluation rating to teacher effectiveness, as determined by the principal

  • Provide logistical support to ensure principals make timely and informed tenure decisions.


  • CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS:
    Our client is seeking candidates who believe deeply in the organization's mission, who thrive in an entrepreneurial and dynamic environment and who demonstrate a record of achievement. This position will also require frequent travel within New York City or New Orleans.

  • Significant prior experience with improving teacher performance as a school administrator required

  • Prior experience with teacher evaluation and tenure processes required

  • Track record of developing teachers to produce greater gains in student achievement

  • Strong education background and instructional skill set, preferably in high-need schools or with high-need populations

  • Excellent analytical skills, including experience working with qualitative and quantitative teacher performance data

  • Working knowledge of the New York City DOE or New Orleans DOE (highly preferred)

  • Outstanding critical thinking skills

  • Excellent project management and organizational skills

  • Extraordinary attention to detail

  • Superior adult facilitation skills

  • Excellent oral communication and writing skills

  • The ability to work independently and manage multiple responsibilities simultaneously

  • Outstanding interpersonal and teamwork skills

  • The ability to critically assess challenges and identify effective solutions
  • The ability to work effectively with others at all levels of an organization and to consistently display a high level of professionalism in all interactions

  • Flexibility and comfort with ambiguity

  • Familiarity with New York or Louisiana curriculum standards (preferred)

  • Comfort working with computers and strong working knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite

  • Willingness to work non-standard hours and occasional weekends


  • COMPENSATION:
