The Feds Whistle a Happy Tune
“No Child Left Behind”: the song.

No joke. Sung like upbeat gospel, the song praises President Bush and the No Child Left Behind act.

We’re here to thank our president,
    For signing this great bill,
    That’s right! Yeah,
Research shows we know the way,
It’s time we showed the will!

The song, written by Christopher Cerf and Sarah Bruce Durkee, whose children’s show, “Between the Lions,” receives a $4 million grant from the Education Department.

According to an item in the NY Times the federal Department of Education is considering having students sing the song when Secretary of Education Rod Paige visits schools and playing it for callers when the department puts them on hold.

Ohanian Comment: First the song, then the movie. Starring Arnold Schwarzenegger, maybe?
