IBM Intelligence and What They Call the Education Race
IBM announces that with the No Child Left Behind law, "a new set of measurement tools and performance improvement processes will be needed by every district in the nation to be accountable under the requirements of the new law."

Here are a couple of their tenets about education--in their words and their emphases:

"Children are "bright" in their own special way. Each community has a "thousand points of bright." No child has to be left behind! Gaps exist at the start of the educational race and typically little is done to correct those gaps. Insight at School reports and data integration services can help uncover gaps across multiple conditions and programs and clearly communicate gap information to teachers, principals, and others responsible for front-line instruction. Gap reduction is a strategic goal for all our clients and a tenet of NCLB."

"Actionable reports are focused on what matters at each locale through IBM's defined and tested business discovery process."

"Reading is a key area of NCLB. Research-based reading instruction can be validated locally with the right data systems."
