    Oops! There Goes Harcourt Again
Hundreds of Nevada high school students who were told they failed the state's proficiency test in April actually passed, state education officials were told last week.

Harcourt Educational Measurement told the Nevada Department of Education that a scoring error resulted in failing marks for 736 students when they had in fact passed. . . .

Students must pass the proficiency test to earn a Nevada high school diploma. . . .

Nevada officials got rid of CTB/McGraw-Hill after penalizing the company $200,000 for mistakes.

Ohanian Comment: Most of my comment is unprintable, but I do have a question: Where is the hue and cry over the fact that one question on an exam shipped in from Texas can mean the difference of graduating or not for many hundreds of students? One question determines your whole school career?
