Making a Difference

Posted: 2004-01-29

If 1,791 people in North Dakota made snow angels at one time, how many teachers can we get to sing a song?

On March 23, 2002, 1,791 people of all ages and sizes flapped their arms and legs to make angels in the snow on the state capitol grounds in Bismarck, North Dakota. The event was certified by the Guinness Book of World Records.

I saved the Associated Press photograph because it is clearly such a joyful event. Anybody who maintains archives of standards and testing atrocities needs all the joy she can get.

I've sat here trying to think of what protest event we could stage. Hey, if we can't muster support for protecting kids, maybe making the Guinness Book would have appeal.

When we get our CD of Songs of Resistance ready, maybe we could all sing the same protest song at the same minute of the day.

Speaking of the CD, I keep hoping more people will offer support. Here is a chance to make a big noise against the test. Don't you want to be part of it?

We'll send you 5 CDs for each $50 you contribute now. Later, CDs will sell for $15 each.

Send checks to Wisconsing:

Your check will support production and advertising. We'll send the CDs when they are ready. We plan to flood the media with them.

This is an easy way for you to join the resistance. Just think: 1,791 people in North Dakota made snow angels. Can't we get a similar number of people to sponsor Songs of Resistance?
