To the editor

Critics have focused on the most prominent flaws of the the RT¹s demands:

linking student test scores to teacher evaluation and allowing unlimited

proliferation of charter schools. But, those are not the law¹s worst

features. More reprehensible are the underlying assumptions that teachers

have to be bribed to get them to teach, that students need to have the fear

of God put into them, and that politicians, bureaucrats and business CEOS

are the right ones to decide what students should learn.
