re: Editorial: Let's remove barriers to education



Education has barriers that are definitely present, but they do not come in the form of teachers. They come in the form of corporations invading our schools.



Groups like Students Matter and NCTQ, which were mentioned in Sunday's editorial, are hell bent on destroying teachers. Their goals are not to improve education; their agenda is to own it.



If you look at who is running Students Matter, it is clear what is driving their true motive: New Schools Venture Fund, Parent Revolution, Education Trust West and Democrats for Education Reform.



All of these groups are loaded with hedge fund managers, lobbyists and CEOs who want teachers out of the way to capitalize on the education market. Their focus relies solely on test scores as a means of "measuring" success.



We have now seen through the disastrous experiment called NCLB that testing children to death makes no improvement in their learning. Yet, we are being asked by The Bee's editorial board to swallow this lie again.



The relationship between these groups and the testing and curriculum companies is vast and powerful. We cannot allow them to continue to erode public education. Do your homework and say no to their agenda.
