To the editor
In Moving Ahead with the Common Core, the Editorial Board insists that "the Common Core standards were the product of a heavily researched, bipartisan effort pioneered by the National Governors Association in collaboration with the Council of Chief State School Officers." Not so. There is no research supporting this highly speculative endeavor which uses public school students as guinea pigs. This radical experiment was financed by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. "Bipartisan" means that both red and blue states agreed to participate because of coercion (and money) from the U. S. Department of Education.
