[Susan notes: This was published online, not in the paper. I just think that it's important to speak for a living wage every chance I get.

I particularly felt the need when the 'Times Picks' said things like this: If they were more highly paid, a manicure would once again become something that only a few, very privileged women could afford. ]

Re: The Price of Nice Nails: Being old and of the generation that used emery boards, I've never had a manicure or a pedicure.

But taking a morally superior attitude doesn't make me feel less outraged by people being exploited. I worry that whether it's the strawberries we eat or the nails we get gelled the Comfortable Class wears blinders to the need for a living wage.
