In How to Grade a Teacher (June 16, 2015), Joe Nocera expresses concern for "how to make schools better." It's a pity that he misses the 500 elephants in the schoolhouse. What schools desperately need to improve is a living wage for the parents of the children who attend. Mr. Nocera would do well to read the latest research from the Economic Policy Institute.
