[Susan notes: I find it very interesting--and commendable--that the Wall Street Journal would publish a letter critical of one of its editorials. Try to find the New York Times doing the same.
To the editor
You ask, in your July 23 editorial A Texas Teaching Moment, why shouldn’t a home-schooling mother chair the Texas school board? Because, as Thomas Ratliff stated, (not "sniffed"), Donna Bahorich has no experience with public schools as a teacher or parent—94% of Texas children (five million) are educated in public schools. A reasonable qualification is to know something about them. Would you hire a CEO who had no knowledge of the business or the industry she will be running?
