To the editor

Thank you for the thoughtful editorial calling for the teacher's voice to be heard on education reform ("Listening to the teacher," Nov.24).

Students need to be heard as well.

In the next few years, thousands of students will be denied diplomas in California because of a single test. We are seeing schools turned into
test- preparation centers, with the elimination of art, music and thoughtful, exploratory curriculum.

In the name of "raising the bar," students are being cheated of a quality education.
