As a retired teacher and peer intervenor, I am disappointed that teachers were left out of the discussion of what might be best for schools ("For New York Schools, a $5.6 Billion Question," Op-Ed, April 17). You consulted several experts to answer the question but did not publish the opinion of those on the front lines.

Unfortunately, teachers are accustomed to this insult from the Department of Education, but do not expect it from The Times.
