To the editor

I strongly suggest that Mr. Staples take a writing class. He needs to learn that there are many reasons for writing--not just making one's boss happy. His piece on writing rambled, was self-serving to corporate monetary interests, and did not demonstrate well his ability to get to the point. His area of expertise is in psychology, not education, although I realize opinions can be on anything.

I also suggest that Mr. Staples do a bit more research on NCLB, on what it is actually doing to children and teachers, as well as schools. None of it is good.

All of it is opposite to any scientific study done that describes how students learn.

Sadly, his article reeks of negativity towards teachers, the NCTE, and anything a school might be doing that is not a trickle-down of the Business Roundtable.

It must be that his boss is the BRT.
