Two recent New York Times stories should give readers pause when considering how Bill Gates spends his money on education. "Backer of Charter Schools Finds They Trail in Financing" (Aug. 23) reveals that the Gates Foundation teams up with the Walton Family Foundation to fund public school foe Thomas B. Fordham Foundation research. "Politicized Scholars Put Evolution on the Defensive" (Aug. 21) reveals that the Gates Foundation pumps $1 million smackers a year into the Discovery Institute, the conservative think tank pushing schools to teach Intelligent Design.
