To the editor

Jonathan Kozol's searing indictment of the educational system in this country is far too important to be relegated to the limited space allotted ("School Monitor," Sept. 4th). His charges expose the hypocrisy of corporate leaders and their political allies who demand the development of critical thinking in schools on one hand while championing antithetical Skinnerian strategies on the other. The contrast between the operation of inner-city and suburban schools is a national disgrace that can be understood only as undeniable evidence of the no longer hidden agenda to turn the U.S. into a two-tier society.
