To the editor

College Board is to error-free as Hindenburg is to ________

IF YOU, like me, are the parent of a high school junior who rose early,

sharpened some number two pencils, and completely filled in their intended

bubbles on the answer sheet for this latest round of SATs, then you are

doubtless comforted by the College Board's recent e-mail, which describes all of

the measures they are taking to prevent errors in scoring.

The answer sheets will be acclimated to humidity prior to scanning.

Software has been upgraded.

Each answer sheet will be scanned twice.

My confidence in the College Board is nearly restored.

Oh, but look here. The e-mail they sent says ``Dear Alison."

Alison? My daughter's name is Rachel.
