[Susan notes: Good for Stephen Krashen for not letting this one pass by unnoticed. Taking away recess from 30% of our children is a big plenty.]

To the editor

“The overscheduled child myth,” (January 19) argues

that we shouldn’t worry about schools eliminating

recess because “most schools – at least 70% --

haven’t cut recess.” That means that 30% have.

We are worried. That’s a lot.

We wonder if the school administrators who decided to

do this have also reduced or eliminated their own

coffee breaks.
