Re âUnder âNo Childâ Law, Even Solid Schools

Falterâ (front page, Oct. 13):



It seems obvious that the purpose of the law is

the destruction of the public school system. The

number of requirements (some of which are very

stringent) results in a very low probability that

they will all be met.



Clearly the requirement that all students,

including the learning disabled, be able to read

at grade level was intended to be impossible to

meet.



Given that the Bush administration has tried to

privatize Social Security and Medicare, why is it

surprising that it has also been trying to

privatize schooling?
