A Message to Congress

C. Clark Bell

I recommend that all Newspapers in the US of A send the following message to all Congressional members who have any input in the NCLB "reauthorization process" :
Why don't you people in the Congress conduct your own test.

Take the money that is spent on all of the tests and spend it to improve teaching conditions (infrastructure) in the classroom.

Give the funds to 6 schools in any county or local system and let them alone with an imaginative principal or head master (using art and music extensively) in charge.
Give them 5 years and then test them in any way you choose.

I'll wager that you won't find any significant difference in their pupil test scores and as a bonus the students will love school and the learning process. Now wouldn't that surprise George Bush, Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton, John McCain, Ted Kennedy, among others who seem to think students must suffer in order to learn.

Double dog dare you.
