NCLB Outrages

Sister/Brother, Can You Write a Letter?

I have been asked to send a copy of my book When Childhood Collides with NCLB to every member of the House and Senate education Committee. Clearly we need to ramp up the grassroots activism, and maybe this can jumpstart it.

Postage and mailers alone make this a big & expensive undertaking. I just counted: 69 people on the two committees. I am willing to undertake this project and you can help. It would be helpful if you each took a look at the lists--and if one or more of these people are in your district/state, please write them a short note about NCLB--and send it to me by e-mail. I'll include it the book. With your permission, I will send the book from you--with your return address.

Two people have already volunteered monetary contributions to this campaign. A number of you sent extra when you bought books. It will be used in this campaign.

If you have an idea for a "hook" for a particular person even if he/she isn't in your district-- and are willing that I indicate the book is coming from you, please send me an e-mail note. For example Pennsylvania Representative Joe Sestak is particularly interested in autism; Wyoming Senator Michael Enzi's daughter teaches 7th grade. And so on. It just seems that it would mean more if these letters were personalized in some way. But I can't personalize letters to 69 people. I need your help.

Of course everybody could write Obama. He is currently a member of the Senate education committee.

I have already looked up the home district offices of all these people--so the book and letter will go there and not be delayed by anthrax investigation in Washington D. C. Congressional offices.

Please do not delay in writing these letters and getting them to me.
