Margaret on The Colbert Report

So Colbert was no tougher on Spellings than was Jon Stewart. She gets her way with these fellows.

Teacher Comment from ColbertNation Forum: Hey Colbert, why did you go easy on Margaret????

She didn't even go into detail about No Child Left Behind. The no child left behind program is a disaster. It is a mess. My special ed students are expected to pass the state test...how crazy is that!

When I first heard she was going to be on the show I thought "YES! Here we go!" After the interview I felt very let down by Stephen! As a teacher, I too feel that the No Child Left Behind Act does NOTHING for the students and in fact only punishes them for being "behind" the set standards. (Imagine asking a 14 year old to pass the standardize test when he is mentally at a 4 year old level!) I also have been the product of a school that closed down because of said act. We had improved 150% from the prior year's test scores, but because we weren't up to snuff with the rest of the nation, our kids lost quite possibly their last chance at making a change!

BOOO to Stephen and BOOO to Margaret for thinking she did us teachers a favor!
