Substance Resumes Publication

Susan Notes: Substance is back. You owe it to the resistance to subscribe.

Substance, the newspaper of public education in Chicago, resumed publication with the September-December 2004 issue. The newspaper suffered a brief hiatus when editor-in-chief George Schmidt fought all the way to the Supreme Court to challenge the Chicago Board of Education's right to utilize federal copyright law to suppress the newspaper publication of government documents of importance to the public.

The Schmidt family suffered grave monetary consequences for their courage and determination in exposing a bogus high stakes test. George was dismissed by the Chicago Board of Education and the family has suffered mammoth legal bills.

We can do our part by subscribing to Substance. And add something extra when you send in your subscription.
