Parents Group Launches New Anti-CSAP Campaign

Susan Notes: This Colorado group is quintessentially grassroots. And they are getting their message out on bus stop benches.

DENVER - A group of parents started a grass roots campaign this week. They want to see the end of Colorado's standardized test for public schools, also known as the CSAP.

Several bake sales helped them raise close to $2,000 to buy advertisement space on bus stop benches in 25 different locations across the metro area. They believe the CSAP is an over used test that isn't implemented correctly. They also say that standardized tests are turning this country into a nation of test takers, as opposed to a nation of learners.

The department of education defends the CSAP saying that the test is necessary for accountability. The Colorado Department of Education's Commissioner says that the test helps American students keep up with their foreign counter parts.
