Let Your Child Enjoy Her Life

Susan Notes:

Sometimes great advice for
how schools should be run comes from unexpected

In the French powerhouse thriller "Ne le dis à
personne" (Tell No One), a pediatrician
counsels parents seeking treatment for their
young daughter's severe eczema to stop the
cortisone treatments and
instead do this:

  • Let your child enjoy her life

  • cartoons in bed

  • fries for lunch

  • friends to visit all afternoon

  • Barbie, chocolate, the whole shebang

  • And lots of TV, of course

  • The look on the young girl's face as the doctor
issues his prescription is well worth the price
    of the movie.

We should start an equivalent movement for our
  • recess

  • child relevant and friendly curriculum

  • student choice

  • return of teacher read alouds

  • the whole shebang

  • Let our students enjoy their school
    What an idea.
