A Better Idea for Halloween

Susan Notes: What a great idea!!

We live over half a mile up a steep hill and in 15 years have never had a single trick-or-treater.
This idea makes me want to go flag down little kids who haunt the mall on Halloween.

I read the comics daily and
consider some of them the most intellectual items in the newspaper. In
today's "Lu Ann" comic strip, the main character, a teenager, suggests to
her parents that they give her old children's books to kids on Halloween
instead of candy. I think that is a great idea and wish I had gotten that
message earlier. I'm going down to Powell's City of Books right away to see
what is available for a dollar or two and will buy what I can. Since we
don't get many trick-or-treaters on our quiet dead end street, it won't be
too expensive for me.

I plan to work on this earlier next year and do a
better job.
