World Read Aloud Day

Susan Notes:

You could:

  • take a child to a Congressional office and read aloud a child-appropriate book;

  • Invite your Congressional representative, governor, or other corporate politico to read aloud from a DIBELS kindergarten test;

  • Invite a school board member to read aloud from a DIBELS kindergarten test;

  • Read aloud to a loved one--and forget the DIBELS kindergarten test;

  • Take some books to a homeless shelter, a batter women's shelter, a children of prisoners outreach, inviting them to participate in the day.

    March 3, 2010 has been established as LitWorld's first World Read Aloud Day to celebrate and encourage the invaluable practice of reading aloud and to bring attention to the importance of literacy across all countries and for all of humanity.
