Susan Notes:

For $5, you can feel good about helping parents and teachers fight state oppression.

For a number of years the Coalition for Better Education in Colorado has sponsored a billboard campaign to inform parents of their right to opt their children out of the state standardized tests.

You can join this campaign by helping to buy the billboard space. In the words of CBE leader Don Perl:

Even $5.00 would be a step toward raising our voices to let parents know that they have the last say in the education of their children, and that they can exempt their children from the malpractice that is CSAP.

Every year more parents realize the boondoggle that high stakes standardized testing is and every year more parents take that brave step toward more humane policies of education by opting their children out of the state tests.

This year we may add a phrase to our billboard. Joanne Yatvin earlier this year wrote a very strong letter commenting on the morality of saying NO. This year we had T-shirts made up which incorporate Joan's message: thought:

Moral Choice - Say NO to State Tests.

And so we continue to inch the wheel of history forward toward a more civil society.

Appreciatively, and in solidarity,
Don
