An Update on the Power of the Press

Susan Notes:

Call this VERY good news.

In May 2011, Michael Winerip wrote a wonderful column, Homeless but Finding Sanctuary at School.

Because I responded to the principal's campaign calling for books for the homeless, I now receive the "Friends of Fern Creek" newsletter. I have to admit I don't always get around to looking inside. But today, I glanced at the November 2011 edition, and am I glad I did.

Dear Friends of Fern Creek,

Collins Family Update

Since the New York Times Article published in May, an anonymous donor has paid for the Collins' rent and utilities for one year. The children continue to attend Fern Creek and are doing well. In addition, the family has received a number of donated items, including bicycles for the children, household furniture, clothing, books, and monetary donations.
